DESCRIPTION: APW - Illinois, Currier first run, serial #474, 11J, 18S, 4oz coin silver OF original Dueber case with offset gold hinges, "Springfield Watch Co." marked white enamel SS dial, KWKS, gilt mvt, s#474. An excellent original early example, the first run of Currier production spanned serial numbers 401 to 500 and was finished between March and June of 1872 with this particular serial number having been finished in June.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, excellent gilt tone, small scratch and abrasion to barrel bridge adjacent barrel arbor escutcheon, few scattered mild small haze spots; dial with short hls below seconds-register at 5:30, extremely faint hls between top of seconds-register and edge at 10:30, minuscule edge nick under bezel at 11; excellent hands, tiny patch of rust to tip of minute; case shows light wear, some typical fine to micro-fine scratches and pinpoint nicks, no dents or dings, rear hinge missing an end-cap and front hinge missing a portion of an end-cap; bow pivots freely and with a bit of play within pendant sockets; glass crystal with small edge chip at 4:30 and a bit of glue excess at its seat.
